Forest Park Berek

It is situated in the southwestern part of the town, in Veľký háj. It lies in the outskirts of Nové Zámky, by the river Nitra. An educational board offers information about fauna and flora of the region along the Nitra river. Here, can be found various tree species; maple, horse chestnut, and common oak are perhaps the most spread species.

Deeper in the woods, you can also find sweet chestnut. A unique common oak – over 200 hundred years old – sands by the main asphalt pavement on the right. The tree stands 30m in height and has a circumference of 460 cm and is protected by law. There are more great oaks in the territory, three of which are protected and 10 of which are proposed for protection.
