Komárno - Ecofarm on Veľký Lél Island

Veľký Lél Island is one of the last islands on the river Danube. Visiting an eco-farm can be an excellent program for both children and adults.

Ecofarm is located on the Veľký Lél Island, near the village of Zlatná na Ostrove. It is about 15 kilometers from Komárno. It is easily accessible by road, on the bike path, but also for those who choose the waterway. The island is more than 3 km long and covers an area of 250 hectares and is a protected ecosystem. Today it is one of the last large islands of the Danube River, located on the Slovakian section.

In the area of ecofarm you can find campsite and soon it will be possible to accomodate in the reconstructed grainery. These days the reconstrucition of the grainery building is being carried out with the aim to create rooms for environmental education and workshops. At the moment an interactive exhibition about habitats of Danube floodplains is placed in this old grainery. In the mail building of the farm you get information about the farm, the island and surroundings and also about possibilities to spend your free time. One of the most favourite activities is horse riding, birdwatching or boating on Danube.
